The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spouses' Solidarity Association

About us

HISTORY

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spouses’ Solidarity Association (DMEDD) was established on September 24, 1981, with the purpose of assisting and supporting the families of Turkish diplomats and officials who lost their lives while on duty at our missions abroad.

In 1984, DMEDD was officially recognized as a Public Benefit Association.

Over the years, the Association has expanded the scope of its activities and become a prominent association that contributes to efforts and activities nationwide particularly in the fields of education, culture, health, as well as promotion of Türkiye. DMEDD has provided scholarships, supported schools and health institutions, and delivered aid to those in need across Türkiye.

DMEDD also plays an active role in cultural diplomacy, organizing a variety of social and cultural events for members of the diplomatic community in Ankara, thereby contributing to the international promotion of Türkiye.

Our Objectives
  1. To support and provide scholarships to the children of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other government officials martyred while serving abroad.
  2. To support and provide scholarships to the children of Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ officials who passed away while on duty.
  3. To provide scholarships to the children of service personnel of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  4. To carry out charitable activities for the public good and implement social assistance projects.
  5. To promote solidarity and cooperation among Association members.

Thanks to the ongoing support of Foreign Ministry staff and friends of DMEDD, the Association has provided scholarships to the children of martyrs, to the families of officials who passed away on duty, and to the children of Ministry personnel in need.

Over the years, DMEDD has undertaken numerous social responsibility projects, with a strong focus on education and healthcare. The Association has built schools, dormitories, and daycare centers; renovated and furnished schools, hospitals, and health clinics. DMEDD also continues to provide donations of supplies, books, stationery, and clothing to educational and health institutions across Türkiye.

In cooperation with government institutions and NGOs, the Association has also participated in national projects and campaigns in the fields of education, health, and the environment.

Beyond its social contributions, DMEDD plays an important role in cultural diplomacy by organizing cultural and artistic events, particularly for the diplomatic community in Ankara, thereby contributing to promote Türkiye’s heritage and traditions internationally.
